The Dogue de Bordeaux also known as the french mastiff, is one of the oldest dog breeds in France, with a history that dates back over 600 years. Originally bred in the Bordeaux region, this powerful and loyal guardian was used for a variety of tasks, including protecting homes, pulling carts, and guarding livestock. In medieval times, the Dogue de Bordeaux was also used in big game hunting and even wars. Despite facing near extinction during the two world wars dedicated breeders helped revive the breed. Today, the Dogue de Bordeaux is cherished not only for its strength and imposing presence but also for its devotion and gentle nature with family.
